Turbo Snail (Turbo spp.)

The Turbo Snail is a powerful and highly effective reef aquarium cleanup-crew member known for its impressive appetite for algae. Placement & Flow

Turbo Snails can be placed directly on live rock, aquarium glass, or other hard surfaces where algae is present. They are active grazers and will naturally move throughout the aquarium searching for available food.

Moderate water movement is appropriate and helps maintain good oxygenation and water quality. Make sure rockwork is stable and securely positioned, as larger Turbo Snails can be surprisingly strong and may occasionally knock over unsecured frags, small rocks, or decorations while climbing.

Turbo Snails are peaceful and reef compatible. They generally leave healthy corals alone and focus their feeding activity on algae-covered surfaces.

Feeding

Turbo Snails are primarily herbivorous grazers. They naturally consume film algae, hair algae, diatoms, and other algae growing on rockwork and aquarium surfaces.

If natural algae becomes limited, supplement with nori, dried marine algae, algae wafers, or other herbivore-focused foods. Supplemental feeding is especially important in newer or very clean aquariums where the available algae may not support the snail long term.

Avoid adding more Turbo Snails than the aquarium can adequately feed. A healthy balance between algae availability and cleanup-crew size is important.
