Spotted Mandarin Dragonet (Synchiropus picturatus)
The Spotted Mandarin Dragonet is a small reef fish known for its circular, eye-like markings outlined in vivid blue and orange. Also called the Spotted Mandarin Goby, it moves deliberately over rock and sand as it searches for tiny prey. Its unusual pattern makes it a standout in a peaceful, established reef aquarium.
Like other mandarins, this fish has specialized feeding needs. It is best for an experienced keeper with a mature aquarium and a dependable supply of copepods.

Habitat & Compatibility
Provide rockwork with plenty of surfaces to explore and hiding places close to the bottom of the aquarium. Choose peaceful tankmates and avoid strong competition from other fish that feed heavily on copepods. A newly established tank is unlikely to provide enough natural food.
Feeding
The Spotted Mandarin grazes on small prey throughout the day. Keep a reliable copepod population and monitor the fish’s body condition. Some individuals may accept small frozen or prepared foods, but do not rely on prepared food unless the individual fish has been observed eating it.

This fish is ordered specifically for you. Once it arrives at Island Reef Aquatics, it will complete a 7-day quarantine before pickup or shipment. We’ll confirm the delivery date after it has completed quarantine and is healthy for release.
