Poly-Bio-Marine Poly-Filter is a patented chemical filtration pad designed to absorb and adsorb dissolved contaminants. It helps remove harmful organics, excess ammonia, heavy metals, phosphate and residual aquarium medications without removing desirable trace elements.

Monitor the pad’s colour to assess what it is collecting and when replacement may be required. Replace the pad once it is exhausted or contaminants have penetrated through its thickness.

Place the pad in the aquarium filtration system after the mechanical pre-filter material. Position it where water can flow freely over and around the pad.

The pad may be cut with scissors to fit the available filter compartment without reducing its effectiveness.

For routine filtration, inspect the pad regularly. When it becomes dark brown, cut through the pad and inspect the centre. Replace it if the discolouration extends throughout its thickness.

Remove Poly-Filter while administering medications, vitamins or organically bound trace-element supplements unless the treatment instructions specifically require otherwise. Install a fresh pad after medication treatment to remove the remaining medication.

1. Trim the pad with scissors if necessary.
2. Place it after the aquarium’s mechanical pre-filter material.
3. Ensure water can circulate over and around the pad.
4. Do not install it in a way that completely blocks or restricts water flow.
5. Secure it beneath porous filter material or a non-rusting screen if necessary to prevent floating.
6. Inspect its colour regularly and replace it when exhausted.

Keep unused media in its original packaging in a cool, dry place.

For aquarium use only. Keep away from children and pets. Do not reuse a pad exposed to medication as general-purpose filtration media. Remove the pad during active medication treatment unless the medication protocol specifically directs otherwise.

Restricted water flow:
The pad may be too large or positioned incorrectly. Trim or reposition it so water can flow over and around the media.

Pad changes colour quickly:
A rapid colour change may indicate a significant contaminant load. Test the aquarium water and investigate potential sources of metals, ammonia or organic pollution.

Medication appears ineffective:
Poly-Filter may be removing the medication. Remove the pad during active treatment unless directed otherwise by the treatment protocol.

Supplements appear ineffective:
The pad can remove some organically bound additives. Remove it for three days when adding vitamins or organically bound trace-element products, following the manufacturer’s guidance.

Water remains cloudy or discoloured:
The pad may be exhausted, improperly positioned or receiving insufficient flow. Inspect its centre and replace it if discolouration has penetrated through the pad.

Can this pad be used in a reef aquarium?
Yes. Poly-Filter is suitable for marine and reef aquariums and is designed not to remove desirable trace elements.

Can it be cut to fit my filter?
Yes. The pad may be trimmed with scissors without reducing its filtration effectiveness.

Where should I install it?
Place it after mechanical pre-filter media where water can flow freely over and around the pad.

What do the colour changes mean?
Blue may indicate copper salts, light green to aqua may indicate free copper, orange may indicate iron, red may indicate aluminium, yellowish green may indicate ammonia, and beige through dark brown or black commonly indicates organic waste.

When should I replace it?
When the pad becomes dark brown, cut through it and inspect the centre. Replace it when the discolouration extends throughout its thickness or when water quality no longer improves.

Will it remove aquarium medication?
Yes. Remove the pad during treatment unless directed otherwise, then install a fresh pad to remove residual medication after treatment.

Can a medication-removal pad be reused?
It may be retained for the same medication-removal purpose, but it should not subsequently be used for routine filtration or a different treatment.

Does it replace biological filtration?
No. It supports water purification and can help control excess ammonia, but it should not be treated as a replacement for an established biological filter.
