Placement & Flow

Place the Gold Branching Hammer on a stable section of rockwork or on the substrate where it has enough room to expand. Its fleshy polyps can extend significantly beyond the skeletal branches, so leave sufficient clearance from nearby corals.

Moderate, indirect water movement is ideal. The tentacles should gently sway in the current rather than being pushed continuously in one direction. Excessively strong flow can prevent proper expansion and may damage the soft tissue.

Hammer corals can produce sweeper tentacles at night that may reach neighboring corals and cause tissue damage. Allow several inches of separation from other corals, with additional room around the colony as it grows.

Lighting
