Placement & Flow

Place the Boinkerz Aussie Lord on a stable section of rockwork or on the sand bed, allowing plenty of room for the fleshy polyps to expand. Avoid placing it directly beneath intense lighting or in a strong, concentrated stream of water.

Gentle to moderate flow is ideal. You want the polyps to move naturally without being constantly pushed over or forced to remain retracted. Good circulation also helps prevent detritus from settling on the coral.

Give this coral adequate space from neighboring corals. Micromussa can extend feeding tentacles beyond its normal daytime appearance, and neighboring corals can cause irritation or tissue damage if they are allowed to make contact.

Lighting

When introducing a WYSIWYG specimen, start toward the lower end of the recommended range if its previous lighting conditions are unknown. Acclimate gradually to stronger lighting rather than moving the coral immediately into high-intensity areas.

Feeding

Micromussa lordhowensis is photosynthetic, but it is also an excellent active feeder. Supplemental feeding can provide additional nutrition and support growth, especially in systems where nutrients are kept relatively low.

When the polyps are extended, offer appropriately sized foods such as mysis shrimp, finely chopped marine seafood, small pellets, or quality LPS coral foods.
