Aquarium Care

Yellow Watchman Gobies do best in established saltwater aquariums with rockwork and a sandy substrate where they can establish a burrow. Make sure rock structures are secure, particularly when keeping the goby with a pistol shrimp, as the pair may excavate underneath surrounding rockwork.

Although generally peaceful, Yellow Watchman Gobies can become territorial toward similar gobies, particularly in smaller aquariums.

Feed a varied diet of appropriately sized meaty marine foods such as mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, and quality sinking marine foods. Because they spend most of their time near the bottom, make sure food reaches their territory during feeding.

A secure aquarium lid is recommended, especially when introducing a new goby, as they can jump when frightened or while adjusting to a new environment.
