Dragon Soul Torch Double Head (Euphyllia glabrescens)

The Dragon Soul Torch is a striking Euphyllia glabrescens variety known for its rich coloration and long, flowing tentacles. The combination of warm gold, orange, yellow, and green tones can create excellent contrast throughout the polyp, while blue reef lighting can bring out the fluorescent qualities of the coral. When fully extended, the tentacles gently sway in the current, adding movement and depth to the aquarium.

Placement & Flow

Place the Dragon Soul Torch on stable rockwork with plenty of room around the two heads. Torch coral tentacles can expand significantly beyond the skeleton, particularly when fully inflated.

Provide moderate, indirect flow that allows the tentacles to gently sway naturally. Avoid concentrated flow directly at the heads, which can prevent full extension and potentially damage the delicate tissue.

Torch corals can be aggressive toward neighboring corals and may produce sweeper tentacles, particularly after the lights go out. Maintain several inches of clearance from other corals and allow additional space for future head development.

Lighting

Dragon Soul Torch generally performs well under 80–150 PAR. Moderate lighting is sufficient for maintaining healthy tissue, coloration, and growth.

When introducing this coral, acclimate it gradually to your aquarium's lighting, particularly if your system has significantly higher PAR than its previous environment. Sudden increases in intensity can cause unnecessary stress and reduced polyp extension.

Feeding

Offer foods such as mysis shrimp, finely chopped marine seafood, small zooplankton, or quality LPS coral foods once or twice per week. Avoid oversized food particles, and provide adequate circulation after feeding.
