Reef Code A - 500 ml

Brightwell Aquatics Reef Code A is the calcium-bearing component of a two-part system for maintaining calcium and alkalinity in marine aquariums. It supplies calcium together with magnesium and strontium to support the formation of skeletal material by reef-building organisms.

When used with Reef Code B, the system supplies calcium and carbonates in proportions based on those found in natural seawater. Test calcium regularly and adjust the dose according to the aquarium’s actual rate of calcium consumption.

For maximum effectiveness, Brightwell recommends maintaining magnesium between 1,290 and 1,320 ppm. Proper magnesium levels help reduce unwanted precipitation between calcium and carbonate ions.

Basic dosing:
Add 5 ml per 25 US gallons (94.6 L) of aquarium water every other day, or as required to maintain calcium between 412 and 450 ppm.

Correcting low calcium:
If calcium is below 412 ppm, add no more than 5 ml per 10 US gallons (37.9 L) daily until the desired concentration is reached. Test regularly and then establish an appropriate maintenance dose.

Advanced dosing:
Each 1 ml raises the calcium concentration of 1 US gallon (3.785 L) by approximately 16 ppm.

Daily maintenance dose:
1. Measure calcium at the same time each day to determine the daily decrease.
2. Divide the daily calcium decrease in ppm by 16.
3. Multiply the result by the aquarium’s total water volume in US gallons.
4. The resulting figure is the approximate daily dose in millilitres.

Do not mix Reef Code A and Reef Code B in the same container. Allow at least 60 seconds between dosing the two products.

Before beginning:
1. Calculate the aquarium’s actual total water volume, including the sump and filtration system, while accounting for displaced water.
2. Test the calcium concentration with an accurate aquarium test kit.
3. Confirm that magnesium is within the recommended 1,290–1,320 ppm range.
4. Shake the bottle thoroughly.
5. Dose according to the measured calcium concentration and the aquarium’s consumption.

For automated dosing, place Reef Code A in its own clean reservoir and use a dedicated dosing line. Never combine it with Reef Code B in the same reservoir. Programme the pump according to measured daily calcium consumption and verify the results through regular testing.

Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption.

May cause eye or skin irritation. If the product enters the eyes, flush with water for 15 minutes and seek medical attention if irritation persists. Wash exposed skin thoroughly with water.
