Placement & Flow

Place the Blue Dream Stylophora on stable middle-to-upper rockwork where it can receive strong, multidirectional circulation. As the colony becomes denser, good water movement is particularly important for reaching the interior branches, preventing debris accumulation, and maintaining healthy tissue throughout the colony.

Avoid placing the coral directly in front of a powerful pump where constant linear flow can irritate the tissue. Instead, provide turbulent or alternating flow that moves around and through the branches.

Leave adequate space between the Stylophora and neighboring corals. Although it lacks the long sweeper tentacles associated with many LPS corals, direct contact with other corals can result in stinging and tissue damage.

Lighting

Blue Dream Stylophora generally performs well at approximately 150–300 PAR, making it best suited to moderate-to-high-light areas of the reef. Consistent lighting is important for maintaining healthy growth and coloration.

When introducing a new specimen, especially when its previous lighting intensity is unknown, begin toward the lower end of the recommended range and gradually acclimate it to stronger lighting. Excessive light introduced too quickly can cause paling or bleaching.

Blue-heavy reef lighting can emphasize the coral's blue and violet tones, while a balanced spectrum helps display both its coloration and natural skeletal structure.

Feeding

Blue Dream Stylophora is primarily photosynthetic, receiving much of its energy from symbiotic dinoflagellates within its tissue. Direct feeding is not required in a healthy, established reef aquarium, but the coral can capture suspended organic matter and very small planktonic foods.

Occasional additions of fine particulate coral foods, phytoplankton or appropriately sized zooplankton-based foods may supplement its nutrition. Maintaining stable water chemistry and reasonable nutrient availability is generally more important than heavy target feeding.
